Earlier this year, two-year-old Staffy, Gecko, was brought to us in our animal ambulance. He was discovered in a neighbouring yard in terribly poor health—barely hanging on to life.

We may never know the full story of what happened to Gecko, but we knew right away that he needed help. He was severely malnourished, had a painful skin condition, he was limping from an untreated injury—and he was terrified.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, we were ready to take immediate action to help Gecko. Our entire team banded together to support Gecko. He needed everything from emergency medical attention and nutritious food for his starving belly, to behaviour support to help with his separation anxiety, and loving foster care…right up until we finally found him his very own forever home.

Sadly, there are hundreds more animals like Gecko who will be spending Christmas in our shelters, hoping for a loving, forever home. The Lost Dogs’ Home does not receive any ongoing government funding, so we rely heavily on the generosity of supporters to care for the most vulnerable animals.
