13-week-old golden retriever Frankie was all alone, huddled inside a cardboard box, abandoned in a public park.
Not only was Frankie left to fend for herself, but she was also in desperate need of extensive and costly medical attention.
Frankie was born with a severe congenital deformity to her front right leg. It’s possible she never received the veterinary treatment she needed because it was simply too expensive.
Sadly, more and more vulnerable animals like Frankie are arriving at the Home. Our shelters are nearing capacity and we’re expecting this to be one of our busiest Christmases in years.
As the cost-of-living crisis continues relentlessly, many people are finding themselves unable to afford vital care for their pets, such as veterinary care. As a result, more innocent animals like Frankie are developing serious and long-term health issues. And many of these sweet animals end up coming to the Home in hope of a second chance.
We’re dealing with a devastating domino effect. Not only do we have more animals coming to us, but many of these animals require extensive, long-term care.
Already, our operating costs have soared with inflation. But an area with the most significant increases is our veterinary expenses.
The Home receives NO ongoing government funding. We absolutely depend on donations to help pay for vital costs like the major surgery Frankie needed.
Please donate this Christmas to help give our most neglected animals like Frankie crucial healing and the love of a forever home.
